Sean Maze is a muralist and visual artist based in NYC. His work tends to be kitsch in nature and usually occupies a vibrant, graphic, and loosely geometric 2D space. Inspired by street art, pop art, retro wave/vapor wave aesthetics, mythological imagery and iconography- he has a particular interest in exploring abstracted landscapes and cityscapes with a sort of esoteric flare.
He received his BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Since then he has been involved in an eclectic array of projects- from scenic art on several major motion pictures in the northeast (USA829), architectural signage (Design Communications Ltd.), Ice sculpture (Brookline Ice Co.), along with renovating old homes, building for an animal sanctuary (@fosterparrots) - even building a recording studio (@railroadparkrecordingco) and producing music with his group Karis Owen (@KarisOwen) - just to name a few.
Today however he is primarily involved with ongoing mural commissions and collaborations in New York. Frequently collaborating with architects, designers, small businesses and brands to design murals for a variety of spaces both public and private. Recent projects include murals with Saatchi Art (@saatchiart), ABB FIA Formula-E (@fiaformulae), Unapologetic Foods (@unapologeticfoodsnyc), design collaboration with VMLY&R (@vmlyr), and more. He has been actively partnered with Wid Chapman Architects (@widchapmanarchitects) on a variety of interior murals, and works closely with Sugarlift (@sugarlift) for numerous art installations in both private collections and galleries.
His studio is located in East Harlem- where he is currently at work on a new body of paintings.
He is open for mural commission, studio commission, collaboration, and installation throughout the New York City area, and beyond.
