1DROP Gallery is thrilled to introduce Jamie Burmeister, an artist and musician whose practice brings a fresh, playful depth to our program. Based in Omaha, Nebraska, Burmeister has spent more than 20 years experimenting across sculpture, painting, drawing, video, sound, installation, and interactive work, using every medium at his disposal to respond to his experience of the world.

Burmeister has exhibited internationally in galleries, museums, and public spaces, building a body of work that is at once accessible and conceptually rich. Recent years have seen his focus turn to a series of small 4” tall bronze figures he calls “vermin” — intimate figurative sculptures that migrate between gallery and museum pieces, public art installations, and surprising street‑level encounters.

These “vermin” become surrogates for the full range of human experience. By combining them with his broader multimedia approach, Burmeister opens space to explore humor, absurdity, and the quiet mundanity of everyday life, often in the same gesture. The work invites viewers to look more closely, rewarding curiosity with moments that feel both uncanny and strangely familiar.

Burmeister received his M.F.A. in Sculpture from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, grounding his experimental practice in a strong sculptural foundation. At 1DROP, we are honored to present his work to our collector community and to share new opportunities to live with these sharply observed, subtly mischievous objects.
